Janis Royal, an educator for over 20 years, proudly serves as the Assistant Principal of Enge-Washington Intermediate School. She has previously served as an elementary school counselor and an elementary school teacher in other Texas schools.

Mrs. Royal received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Tarleton State University in 2003, and a Master of Education degree from Tarleton State University in 2011. Mrs. Royal has additionally earned her credentials in Educational Leadership and school counseling. Mrs. Royal is married to Erik Royal, also a Tarleton State University graduate. They have two children, Deslyn who is working on her B.S. in Speech Pathology from Stephen F. Austin University, and Eaen who is working toward his B.S. in Animal Science at Tarleton State University.

Mrs. Royal enjoys reading, crochet, traveling, working on her 3rd generation ranch, and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Royal was influenced and mentored at a young age by her mother who also served as an educator.

Mrs. Royal believes in enjoying life by being of service to others. She lives by the quote, "The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery."– Mark Van Doren
