Friday, 10/6, is a staff development day for GISD and Monday, 10/9, is a school holiday. Students do not come to school Friday or Monday. Have a safe and exceptional long weekend, everyone!
Join us on October 12th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Enge-Washington Intermediate School as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Bring your favorite Hispanic dish/dessert/drink. We will also have live entertainment, pinatas, arts and crafts.
We hope that you'll join us for the next Parent University at H.O. Whitehurst on Oct. 18 from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm. This event is for all GISD parents (Pre-K through 12th) and will focus on mental health, depression, self-harm, and self-awareness.

4th grade science students have started a worm farm and have planted seeds, as well as taking part in daily science activities and labs. Watch for more to come throughout the year on the progress of their worms and plants... :)
EWIS teachers utilize the classroom walls to enhance the learning environment. Our students' attention was drawn to the walls this week to show them how they can make a connection that will form a memory for them to use on assignments and as part of their collaborative conversations. Here are some examples of what students' see on a daily basis that directly connects to their learning.

Not all classrooms have four walls. Today, some of our 5th grade science students got to enjoy the outdoors while still completing work with their teacher. :)

We had a hard time choosing 10 best dressed students in Goat Pride attire today, so we made it 27! Some had already left for the day when we took the picture, but man, oh, man! There was school spirit felt at EWIS today. GO BIG RED!!! :))) Next Friday is Black Out the Blackcats!
