2025-26 GISD Convocation - Superintendent Scott Cummings welcomed staff back to work, along with the band and color guard performance, and the GHS cheerleaders bringing on the spirit. This year's guest speaker was GHS alumnus Tony Taveras. Taveras brought enthusiasm with his story of becoming and being a GOAT, and a challenge for GISD to be that spark for the students. Cummings recognized Bud Nolan as Elementary Teacher of the Year, Jenna Jones as Secondary Teacher of the Year, and Channing Coffey for his accomplishments with TIA. We're off to a great year, GOATS!

We've implemented a new District-Wide Cell Phone Policy, and all students and parents need to be familiar with the updated consequences. This change comes in response to House Bill 1481, a new Texas law. It limits student cell phone use during the instructional day, including passing periods and lunch.

We’re excited to announce that enrollment and registration for the upcoming school year will open on Tuesday, July 29th. Campus staff will be at the Red Goat Cafe with assistance enrolling and completing the registration process.
Parents and guardians can complete the process through the ASCENDER Parent Portal. Please make sure to update all required forms and verify student information to ensure a smooth start to the school year.

GISD Basketball Clinic for 7th grade through 12th grade! Join us for an exciting basketball clinic with UMHB Shooting Coach, Alvie King, on July 30 from 9 AM to Noon. Go GOATS!
Good morning! Tomorrow July 29th is the day for senior pictures! Band and tennis players will be 8:00-8:30am, A-I 8:30-9:30, J-M 9:30-10:45, and N-Z 10:45-12:00pm. If you cannot show up during your specific time, that is OK! You can come at whatever time is convenient. Everything will be provided to the students, they just have to show up picture ready. Girls might consider wearing a spaghetti strapped shirt so it's easier for the drape picture. There will be a QR code and information to purchase pictures tomorrow in the cafeteria.
