2025-26 GISD Convocation - Superintendent Scott Cummings welcomed staff back to work, along with the band and color guard performance, and the GHS cheerleaders bringing on the spirit. This year's guest speaker was GHS alumnus Tony Taveras. Taveras brought enthusiasm with his story of becoming and being a GOAT, and a challenge for GISD to be that spark for the students. Cummings recognized Bud Nolan as Elementary Teacher of the Year, Jenna Jones as Secondary Teacher of the Year, and Channing Coffey for his accomplishments with TIA. We're off to a great year, GOATS!

We've implemented a new District-Wide Cell Phone Policy, and all students and parents need to be familiar with the updated consequences. This change comes in response to House Bill 1481, a new Texas law. It limits student cell phone use during the instructional day, including passing periods and lunch.
