PRESS RELEASE: Groesbeck ISD Resident
On August 12, 2025, the Groesbeck ISD School Board unanimously sought voter approval for a $67,000,000 million bond issue. This process has been a true community collaboration, bringing together a diverse group of individuals, including citizens, city leaders, board members, district employees, teachers, parents, and students. Over the course of several months, the Bond Facility Planning Committee worked to gather data, assess needs, and develop a comprehensive bond proposal, ultimately making a recommendation to the school board.
This recommendation is based on the findings of the Facility Planning Committee and evaluations of current district facilities, as well as proposed upgrades to enhance student safety and security.
The district’s financial advisor has determined that if the bond passes, there will be a tax rate increase of $0.06 to finance this bond. For the average home in Groesbeck ISD valued at $206,778, this represents an increase of $3.34 per month.
For voters over 65 or disabled who have an approved homestead exemption, your tax rate will not change. Under state law, the dollar amount of school taxes imposed on the residence homestead of a person 65 years of age or older cannot be increased above the amount paid in the first year after the person turned 65 or Disabled. You must apply for this exemption.
