Subject: Important Update: Changes to Text Message Notifications

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our school wants to ensure that you continue to receive important updates about your
student.

Major mobile carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, have discontinued
support for email-to-text messaging—the technology that allows ASCENDER
messages to be sent to your phone number via email (such as 123-456-
7890@vtext.com).

AT&T officially ended this service on June 17, 2025, stating:
“Email-to-text and text-to-email services have been fully discontinued and are no
longer supported.”

T-Mobile’s email-to-text gateway stopped functioning by the end of 2024.

Verizon has fully discontinued vText, and it is no longer supported as of mid-
2025.

What does this mean for you?
To continue receiving timely notifications—it’s imperative that workarounds or
alternative methods are in place to ensure you continue to receive school updates,
schedule changes, and important announcements—this requires a current email
address on file for you.

Action Needed:
Please provide or verify your email address with the school office as soon as possible.
This will ensure you do not miss any important information regarding your student.

We appreciate your understanding as we adapt to these industry-wide changes and
continue working to keep you informed in the most reliable way possible.

If you qualify for an age 65+ or disabled person residence homestead exemption, the school district taxes on your residence homestead cannot increase above your approved tax ceiling—as long as you own and live in the home and do not make any improvements/additions. The tax ceiling is the amount you paid in the year you qualified for the exemption. While your school district taxes may decrease, they cannot increase above your tax ceiling.
